I wanted to make posting easier. That is how ShowLane began.
I wanted automation to make it easier to show my work. Many small improvements later, that idea became ShowLane. Here is why I am building it and who it can help.
There is always something worth sharing in a business. A project is finished, an idea takes shape, or a service is launched. Then the everyday tasks take over, and posting gets pushed back again. ShowLane began with a practical wish: I wanted this part of running a business to feel simpler and easier to manage.
It started with a need for automation
I wanted help with some of the steps that keep coming back. What should a post be about? Which picture belongs with it? How do the words and the image come together? My aim was to give my business communication a clear place alongside the rest of my work.
That led to a longer process of building, changing and refining. One improvement brought another idea. A step could be simpler; an explanation could be clearer. Gradually, what began as a need for automation grew into the idea for a separate tool.
The question grew with it. Could the same approach help someone running a small shop, working with clients, or starting a business? Could it make creating a post feel easier to begin?
That process became ShowLane, a product developed within Smart Square Productions.
What is the idea behind it?
ShowLane brings the message of your business into a place where you can turn it into a social post. You can start with your own photo or an idea, then shape the image, wording and colours around your business.
In the current public preview, you can edit text, colours, layout and image size, and download the finished graphic as a PNG. You can start with your own photograph, and the preview does not require registration or a bank card.
The broader direction is to bring photos, brand details, saved posts and content planning into a clear workflow. The full account-based and automated service is still being prepared. Publishing to social platforms is currently handled separately from the public preview.
Keeping your own voice matters to me. You know your business and what is true about the work you are showing. Reviewing the picture and the wording therefore remains part of creating the post.
Who could it help?
ShowLane is aimed at people who want to share their work but regularly get stuck at the point of creating a post. That might be a local service business, a small shop, an independent professional, a maker or someone starting their first venture.
A café could show the atmosphere of its space. A service provider could explain what happens during an appointment. A maker could share a detail they are proud of. The photograph and the story may already be there in an ordinary working day.
The common question is how to turn the work you do every day into something another person can understand and connect with. A clear starting point can make that question easier to approach.
Why make room for social media?
It helps a prospective customer to understand who you are. What do you do? How do you work? What can they ask you for help with? Where can they contact you? Social content gives you a way to answer these questions through everyday examples.
A regularly updated page can show what is happening in your business. A completed project, an answer to a common question or an explanation of your process gives someone a useful starting point. Your own photographs and plain descriptions can help them see the person behind the work.
Choose a platform where you can speak to the people your business serves, in a way that suits them. Find a rhythm that also fits your working life. A clear introduction, a few real examples and an easy way to contact you are a useful place to begin. Questions from prospective customers can then help you decide what to explain next.
It also makes sense to look beyond reactions to a post. Are people asking relevant questions? Do they understand what you offer? Can they find their way to you? A post cannot guarantee a new customer. What a useful social presence can do is give people an opportunity to learn about your business and take a next step.
You do good work. Make it easier to show.
That is the intention behind ShowLane. I started with my own need for automation and kept refining the idea into something that could help other business owners too. Each improvement points in the same direction: make post creation clearer, more manageable and easier to begin.
If you have a photograph or an idea you would like to share, explore the ShowLane public preview. Start with something real from your business and shape it so that it feels like you.
Your everyday work already contains a story. It deserves a place to be seen.
